In the fandom I'm currently in, I've never seen anyone refer to their relationship as goals. In the same way, I wouldn't call Eve and Villanelle from Killing Eve goals. Because it's not a thing. I should know. I'm a survivor of abuse myself. I often refer to Xena Warrior Princess as the Romeo and Juilet for the LGBT community. The series is set in ancient times. Xena and Gabrielle often speak to each other in Shakespearian ways. And in many ways, it's a tragedy. And Romeo and Juliet isn't a love story in many ways either. Plus this was Ancient Greece. Every romance was terrible. And Xena was an ex-war lord so abuse was bound to pop up in their relationship. Xena Warrior Princess wasn't seen by many as a great portrayal because it portrayed this "wild, healthy relationship". It was because the creators of the show made an effort to put the relationship between these two women at the centre of the show, in all sorts of ways, even if they were being censored left and right. (The censoring effected some of the storylines in season 5 thus Xena hitting Gabrielle with her chakram) And I don't think we've seen anything quite like it since.
